Bday Celebration

Well, Desmond had his first birthday, and we had a party to celebrate. We had intended to post a video of Desmond blowing out his candle, but there has been a bit of trouble. It is clear to those of us close to the revolution that our adversaries have caught wind of this blog and are threatened by its potential to influence the outcome of our struggle. As a result, the upload of the video of Desmond blowing out his candle has been thwarted. Of course, we will continue to try to post the video so that everyone can see just how a revolutionary devours a cupcake with focus and an intensity that belies this age.
Anyway, we hope you enjoy these photos of Desmond and his party. The first one is of him wearing is birthday hat that his mother got for him. He was willing to wear the hat even though it was uncomfortable, and somewhat humiliating, all for the sake of making his mother happy. Desmond was very grateful for the efforts of not only his mother, but those of Heather and Justin as they helped prepare the decorations and food for the party. He was also very grateful that all who came to the party were able to come and share his day. His guests came bearing gifts...lots of gifts. The second photo is of Desmond's birthday booty. After everyone had a chance to eat, Desmond opened all of these presents and was almost overwhelmed by the prospect of playing with so many great new things. For a moment he nearly had to take a nap, and even went into his bedroom to lie down, but the sound of the party in the living room gave him his second wind...he furiously crawled back to join his guests and celebrate with vigor renewed. He played with his new toys, and had some more cake, and chewed on his birthday cards. Desmond had a great time and was very happy to be able to celebrate his first birthday with so many of his friends and family...Thanks everyone. One last photo of Desmond, excited to play with his new toys....

Life is rocky, Desmond, and you've had an entire year of rockiness-revolt against it and smooth things out-life is also redundant at times as indicated by our revolutionary code name-(rills are always rocky)-viva the revolution!!!!
