This past weekend we had a few visitors. Some from Nebraska, some from Texas. Desmond's Grandparents and his Aunt and Uncle from Nebraska came to visit on Saturday. We mostly spent time at the house, but we got out a bit. After we drove by a few landmarks (Cessna, Desmond's daycare) we went shopping. Desmond got a new trike...it makes him very happy. We had a good time downtown Saturday evening. We went into "Old Town" which is in downtown Wichita. It's akin to Omaha's Old Market...Renovated old buildings turned into shops, restaurants and a movie theater.
Sunday the guys (except for Desmond) went to the motorcycle shop. MidAmerica Powersports is huge...hundreds of bikes, atv's and jet skis. We spent a long while there "trying on" the bikes. No one bought anything though. I did find out that they make training wheels for all of the smallest motorcycles. To Desmond, this was great news. We thought he was going to have to start out on an atv before he could ride a bicycle, but a motorcycle with training wheels would be much cooler...and cheaper. When we got back from drooling over the bikes we had a BBQ. Shortly thereafter everyone left and the house was quiet.
You can see from the video below that BA was here. He was on his way north from Dallas to Stanton for the summer and stopped in Wichita for the night. We had a meal, ate some frozen custard and then went for a walk. The video shows us arriving home after our walk. Desmond had fallen asleep and BA was helping him into the house. I had to get a picture of BA and Desmond...BA was surprisingly great with Desmond. He did admit to doing some research...tone of voice, amount of eye contact and whatever else someone needs to know about being around unfamiliar kids. Wherever he got his information, it was effective...Desmond liked BA, and not just because he brought him some new books to read. BA left Tuesday morning after he had a cereal with Desmond. Have a good summer BA!
Thanks to all our visitors for coming...we had a great time and hope you did too.

viva la revolution! oui! oui!
I was about to say that I would happily allow D to use my motorcycle training wheels but I know if I take them off of my bike I'll fall flat on my face. Sorry, I have poor balance.
How old do you have to be to ride one of those things?? Desmond might need to work on his motor skills extensively before a motorbike...do they make helmets that small?
It's good to see BA and Desmond getting along so well!
The Mellow BA?
Let's hope he isn't able to corrupt the revolution, what with his fancy French-talking and all.
Alright,
Grady.
it's too late....desmond was hearing me say"apres moi,le deluge"
.... mellow(ed) jello ba
Thanks for the offer Hoop...no one expects you to give up your training wheels. You're just too damn pretty to be falling flat on your face...especially this close to your wedding. When is that by the way?
Yeah Dawn, they do make helmets for babies...they're called bonnets, and Desmond won't be wearing one. Probably won't be wearing a shirt either. He's not afraid even a little bit.
And we have no fear that BA will corrupt the boy. After all, when the two had breakfast together it was Desmond who let BA have some of his fancy soy milk for his cereal...two peas in a pod.
