Exploration Place

First here's a good picture of Desmond watching the kids running through the fountains in Old Town. The picture was taken after dinner this past Saturday when his grandparents and his aunt and uncle were in town. He was very excited to watch the kids and the fountains, but ventured no further than the edge of the nozzle's range. He doesn't like the water too much, and especially hates having it sprayed on his face. Anyway, a funny picture.

So, this weekend we went to the Exploration Place here in Wichita. We had really no idea what to expect from this place, but it turns out that its an excellent place to take Desmond. Its essentially a children's museum with a lot of hands-on sort of exhibits. But that's not all that's there. I wanted to go because the featured exhibit was the Leonardo DaVinci codex...definitely a big-kid sort of exhibit.

Anyway, we got there and went to the areas that were intended for children first. There was stuff for almost all ages. The picture below is at the Castle area where there was a big, yep, castle and lots of medieval-themed stuff (I don't know what else to call it).

Ever since Desmond's grandmother gave him a rocking horse he's been cool with our equine friends. The whole mounted horse head thing made me a bit uneasy, but Desmond seemed to like it.

After the castle we went to the area that was intended for Desmond's age group. I was pretty much just a play area, but there were some places to make music, some places to watch water and bubbles...somewhat educational. Desmond's favorite was the roller coaster car.

He pretty much monopolized the car while he was there. When he wasn't riding it down the track he was pushing it around. He liked the water too.

We took advantage of Desmond having wore himself completely out as we then went to see the DaVinci codex. He slept through the whole thing...even when his mother knocked down the self supporting bridge. We can get discounted yearly "passports" through Cessna, so I expect that we will be going back.

Not much else happening this weekend. Its been raining a lot in Wichita, so any outside stuff is out of the question. We're itching to go to some of the other area lakes to throw rocks. And, of course, there's the local skate park and motocross track that demand to be visited.

One last photo of Desmond early one morning wearing his new coveralls that his grandparents from Nebraska brought for him. That's what he looks like before he puts his happy face on and brushes his hair.

Check out the new video below, and thanks for commenting!

So wise as he stands back away from the chaos. All the while realizing that while those other children will have to ride home with wet pants he will be oh so cool and dry in his comfy car seat.

I was wondering about you two! I don't have your e-mail address, but I was hoping that someone would turn you on the blog. We are glad to hear that you're preggo. We did already know...Steve stopped by Duncan on the overnight after you two were in town and announced it. That was back when I was still there of course.

Hell yeah we should get together...but I don't have your contact info. I will call your bro and get it. We better get together before the bambino is born otherwise Desmond will teach him/her all the dirty words he knows...which is a lot!
