From Necessity...Invention.

This photo is a few weeks old. It was taken one morning when we went out for breakfast. It was on the weekend, and because IHOP was overrun we decided to give Spangles a try. Spangles is a local (regional?) fast food joint. It is not great. But they have these french toast sticks on the children's menu, and we thought Desmond might like them...I mean, who wouldn't? They come "sprinkled" with powdered sugar, but Desmond's order was buried with powdered sugar. Of course he wanted to eat the sugar, but its difficult to shovel it into your mouth with your hands. . For a while before this feast, we had been making a habit of providing D with silverware at meals. Even if he didn't always use it, he needs to get used to it. Anyway, there was never any real motivation to develop any spoon skills other than banging it on the table...until now. Faced with a strong desire to devour powdered sugar, and the problem of getting it from the table to the mouth, Desmond decided to give this spoon thing a try. It seemed to come easy for him; he mastered it quickly. We took this photo to mark the occasion of Desmond (properly) using utensils for the first time.

I loved eating at Spangles! I ate there a few times while working in Wichita. They have good fries and a good wrap..they even have the terrible 60's music blasting outside when you go through the drive thru! Hope all's well-miss you guys! Joyce

Yes Joyce...terrible 60's music and a life-sized Elvis statue by the condiments. It wasn't even fat, Vegas Elvis, but it was still scary, and I never want to see it again!

Is Spangles known for serving their meals in styrofoam containers?
