These Past Couple Weeks...

...have been pretty fun. Weekdays have fallen into a routine. I take Desmond to daycare every morning before I go to work. It's pretty fun. There's some landmarks along the way that we discuss. We say "Hi" and "Bye, Bye" to the monkey statues, we discuss the zoo as we pass by (topics like: "What do you Think the Lion's Doing Right Now," "Remember When We Went to the Zoo," and "Nature's Pretty Gross, Huh."), and we talk about the cars in traffic. Desmond likes daycare. Dropping him off is never dramatic with crying or clinging because he knows its just a matter of sitting down at the table and breakfast will be served. Pops is forgotten by the time the pancakes hit the gullet.

So then its off to work. Jen and I both are pleased with our new jobs. Of course its nice to have the weekends off now (like a normal person). I worked weekend graveyard shift for a few too many years. I rarely talk to the fellas at Duncan that I used to work with. When I do they sound none too happy about things there. Stay strong brothers on the line!

But...weekends. Yeah, we have fun on the weekends. Check out a couple photos of Desmond feeding the duck at a local park.

Notice that Pops has the clamp down on Desmond's shirt. Ol' Desmond's been known to take an unintentional swim on more than one occasion...but not on this day. We still had the train to ride as well as some playground equipment to abuse. I can't remember the name of the park, but it was pretty fun.

We went to Nebraska again last weekend. Much of Jennifer's family were in Columbus, so because we had no other plans we made the trip north. I also went to Stanton to pick up a few items that I had been storing at Groaner's and Melcher's farms. In Columbus Desmond got to go the horse races with everyone. He liked it fine, and now sometimes yells "Go, Go, Go" while pumping his fist just like his grandma did while cheering on her horses. Desmond also got a ride on the four-wheeler with his aunt. He was frightened at first and wouldn't get on, but after his aunt gave Kevin a ride, D seemed to think it was at least reasonably safe. Luckily he can't read the warning placards prohibiting riders. I don't think he would have heeded them even if he could read them. I'm trying to upload some video of Desmond's ride now, so hopefully by the time you read this you will have already watched the video above.

Here's a photo of D playing with his See-and-Say while sitting in a basket. He's taken to rolling his eyes, usually when he knows he's the source of entertainment.

You should comment...yes, you.

I'm just acting like it sucks now so you don't come back. Good riddance. The more Jordans the better!

The picture with the See-and-Say is classic. It makes me think that he knows something I don't. Sneaky

Looks like your dad got some new specs! The only memories I have of 4wheelers as a kid is when I posed for a picture where my brother was inches away from running me over! Can't wait to see everyone! Love ya! Auntie Joyce

That's the Steve! we've come to know and love. I was worried that something happened to his brain chemistry...his last comment was nice and friendly. Not typical.

And Hoop...I didn't really think about it much before, but Desmond is kinda sneaky beyond his years. For instance, he will lie about having poop in his pants when I ask him. Where did he learn to lie? Are 18-month-olds supposed to be lying already? But then again, who wouldn't lie about poop in their pants?

And J-loyce...I remember that photo now! I wonder where it is. And yes, I did get some new specs. I wanted to get some that were a bit more sturdy for when the boy grabs them or otherwise gets tangled in them. A good idea maybe, but they're already bent.

I'm happy to hear Desmond will be willing to teach our boy bad things...he wouldn't be quite the McDonald if he had declined :) Desmond is getting so big! I can't believe it. Glad to hear things are going well for you. Our baby is due in Jan. We are heading home this coming weekend for Rob's USC bash. Should be a good time.
