Asymptotic to Normal

The title is geeky metaphor for life here nowadays. That is, it approaches normal in that we have regained some of the routine of everyday life, but it will never quite reach what was formally "normal". But that's OK...because now we have E!

Lately ours has been a house divided; split between the boys and the girls. Jen takes care of E, for the most part, and Pops minds the Boy. Desmond has done a very good job of transitioning into the role of big brother, and seems to be dealing with a little less attention from us well. It's partly because of D's good behavior and sensitivity to the demands on his parents that we decided to take him to see Sesame Street Live. It was pretty fantastic...

Desmond doesn't get to watch Sesame Street on the television, so all that he knows of the show and the characters he as learned from videos that we watch on the computer. Many times as I am on the computer D insists on joining in, so rather than have him look at motorcycle forums, or something, I play You Tube videos of Sesame Street that people have uploaded. Usually the videos are of the older episodes, so I remember many of them. Anyway, he loves them and was very excited to see them in person.

The show was good...mostly singing and dancing. It lasted for about one and a half hours with a fifteen minute intermission. During the break they sold Elmo balloons and pennants. The balloons were eight dollars!! Luckily D expressed no interest in any of the merchandise, so we got off easy with the cost of the tickets and some popcorn. Towards the end of the show it was funny to see so many of the kids starting to go stir crazy from having to sit for so long. We even narrowly averted a meltdown from D. I say it was funny, but it was really kind of ironic that the show had outlived some of the kid's attention spans...this, a show based on Sesame Street, which many people blame for being at least partly responsible for the short attention span in children. D didn't care about any of that...he loved it.

D also loves his cars and trains, and he was very taken aback by E's distaste for some of his favorite playthings...Girls are weird.

Did you see Beaches at the show? I sponsor the IL & IA shows and have a booth in the lobby-plus, I have to intoduce the characters in the beginning!! Kinda scary when there's 2000 people! Love the pics of Emma and cannot wait to see everyone next Sunday!! Love you guys, Auntie J-Loyce

Yep, we saw the Beaches booth at the show, but there wasn't a weirdo lady introducing the characters at the beginning. Just some guy that never really announced his affiliation...he could have just been an audience member that managed to steal a microphone for all I know.

Congrats on the new edition to the family. It's comforting to know that Emma will always have D around to serve as the her big brother bodyguard.

Thanks, HOOP. D isn't much of a bodyguard yet...really more of a hazard. He's a pretty fast mover, and is usually on the verge of being out of control. We have to make sure he doesn't step on or crash into E. He'll get the hang of being a protective big bro eventually.
