That's right, six weeks of watching Oprah everyday are over for Jen. She's going to work tomorrow. She's ready, but sad to have to step away from E. The day will be even worse because she has a cold too.
Spring weather has allowed our yard to show its true weed infested-overgrown-viney-patchy self. It is horrible, and keep in mind that I don't really care too much about having an attractive lawn. D and I have been spending time outside working...that is when we aren't too busy taking "adventures". These adventures take us through the most overgrown areas of the backyard. There is a tree that was killed by the vines and fell in such a way that it created a "vine tunnel" for little boys to explore...and big boys to struggle to fit through without getting poked in the eye by a dead branch. D and I have a good time, and while he may have been a little scared on our first few, he now leads all of the adventures and insists that Kevin come along, which he gladly does.
Pops has been remodeling the first floor family room. The paint is on the walls and the ceiling. We await the wood laminate flooring to begin installation.
You can see D was up for lending a hand. "What a nice little helper," you might be thinking. Actually D is trying to learn a trade. You see, there is a rule here: If four is your age, you must earn a wage. And even if said four-year-old does not find gainful employment, they will be allowed to live in the house, but the heat/ac vent to their room will be closed and they will be fed only left overs...Kevin's leftovers. D is trying to get a head start on finding a occupation that he is comfortable with before he's four and has no skills and finds himself digging ditches. You can imagine how tired a ditch digger would get everyday...
E is very excited to be going to daycare. D has been talking it up quite a bit, and assures her that he will be there to protect her. E has every reason to feel safe with assurances like that, but evidently the curtain of protection falls when E plays on the floor...D's metamorphosis from guardian to threat is instantaneous.
Here's a picture of Lady E looking a little bored...I mean, who wants to watch Oprah everyday?
