In case you didn't already know, this past Saturday was some sort of "go to a museum for free" day. You could go to the Smithsonian website and print off a free pass that you and a guest could use at a participating museum. We took advantage of it and went to Wichita's Old Cowtown Museum. It's set up like an old-western town center with old buildings, shops and streets. You can visit the shops, wander through the homes, get a taste of old-timey living and, on this particular day, get some good ol' fire and brimstone preaching from Rev. Diamond D.
The good Reverend has a way of making everyone in attendance sweat as they ponder God's perspective on all of their un-Godly acts. Everyone, that is, except Lady E...she has the free conscious (and smile) of angel.
There was lots of other good stuff to check out at the museum too. Pops tried a coffin on for size,
railway stuff...you can see that D is getting frustrated with having to do all the work, but
of course, D got to take out his frustrations by being more hindrance than help while pumping water,
and Emma in a stagecoach.
In all, it was a pretty good time. We didn't get to see everything, and we didn't get to go for a ride in the horse-drawn wagon, but we usually try to plan these sort of outings around the times when the greatest likelihood of a meltdown will occur. That is, we take in all we can and simply plan to leave after a couple hours, regardless of what we may have missed. That way the whole experience doesn't have to be remembered by the hum-dinger of a tantrum that D threw as we waited for the pony ride, for instance.
Speaking of pony rides, the weekend before last was the church's fall festival. Long time readers of the blog will remember this event from last year. D rode a horse then, but this time he did a much better job, and had a much better time.Other than that, life here in Wichita has not been terribly out of the ordinary. Pops has D's B-day present torn completely apart as I figured I had time to overhaul it before D would get it. It's been fun, and since my ankle is still damaged I can't ride mine. And since I can't ride mine, I don't need to work on it. Anyway, hopefully it should be good for D with a fresh motor. I'm also making sure that all the controls work well. I don't want to be the bad dad that let his kid rid a dirt bike that the throttle got stuck on and the brakes didn't work.
Yeah, the ankle is still not healed. I had to get an MRI...we're waiting for the report.

Looks like fun! Baby Emma looks more and more like her big bro! Jen, I love your jeans-very cute! Hope all is well-see you at Xmas!
Love Ya, Auntie Joyce
Lot's of people say that E looks like her brother...I don't see it. I mean they look like brother and sister, but I don't think that they look alike. Maybe they do. In that case, all I can say is, poor Emma.
