...and there hasn't been a new Prelude post. Shame on the revolution for not keeping everyone up to date. The past few weeks have been routine...busy. I've been looking through the pictures on our camera in a effort to find something remarkable to pass on and, nothing. An example of something unremarkable: the weekend before last Pops wrapped up a brake job on the Subaru.
Of course I had to go to the parts store a few times in the course of getting this done. D likes to come because there are always Hot Wheels cars at the store, and he usually walks out with a new one if he's good. And he's always good at the auto parts store. Maybe because he wants a car, but another possible reason is that he's a little intimidated by all the grungy folks that are there. He's always very meek and careful not to bump into anyone, which is out of character for D.
Anyway, you can see D's birthday present in the background of the photo. Or you can see how it is concealed. He has tried to pull off the blanket a couple times, but I just yell at him and he leaves it alone. He asked what was under it once and I told him it was a lawnmower, and he was satisfied. Here' s a couple of photos of the little bike. One showing how far it was disassembled (it's back together now), and one along with mine in the photo to give everyone an idea of just how small it really is.
In the last post I stated that we were waiting on the results of my MRI. Well, they indicated that I have a fractured calcaneus. Evidently the bones are "non-displaced", so not having a cast this whole time was not an especially big deal, and putting on one now would just be silly. The results also indicated that several of the adjacent bones and ligaments were bruised. I'm told that the bruising will take as much time to heal as the break, and to expect a greater likelihood of arthritis in the damaged joint. Sweet. All that aside, I went riding this weekend anyway. I go with a friend from work, and this time D got to go...he brought his own ride.
He strapped in onto the trailer himself.
Also this weekend D and Pops went to the Benton Airpark for a hangar party. A friend of mine from Cessna is a part-owner of a Stearman, and had a small party at his hangar. He was giving rides too, though D and Pops just observed from the ground. You can see the Stearman landing in the background.
There was coincidentally a fly-in at the airport there. There were lots of vintage aircraft that came, and many of them were goofing off...buzzing the field, for instance. There were "airplane games" also. One game involved flying slowly over the field, just in front of the spectators, and dropping a small bag of flour out of the airplane. The goal was to hit a target, but it was very hard, evidently. I guess that this was D's first time this close to these kind of airplanes, because he was very surprised to find that they were so LOUD! He didn't like it, and it made him very uneasy. Radial engines are loud, so I don't blame him. Another, better(?), photo of my friend's plane...
Emma is becoming quite the young lady. She sits up nicely, uses high chairs and she especially likes to stand up (with some assistance of course). Emma loves to play in her walker. It's funny to see how much she enjoys ramming into D as he lays on the floor playing with trains or cars. Still, she does not crawl. If she can crawl before Halloween she will have beaten D with respect to this milestone. He was late to crawl too, I guess...it's the slow reading group for both of them it seems.
You can see that E has also started eating food that she has to chew.
If I can manage some extra time I will get some video posted of D and Lady E playing, so stay tuned.

Cute pics! So, remind me, when does Desmond get his new bike? Doesn't he have to master an actual bicycle before he's able to ride something with a motor? Does she get a Barbie Corvette to drive?
Emma's beautiful, as always! What are they going to be for Halloween? Joyce
Great pics and commentary as usual....sorry about your ankle Matt. Love D's airplane shirt! Glad that you guys do so much together. Emma is growing so fast....she's beautiful....can't wait to see all of you again. Have a good week ....love G'ma Mary.
Glad you liked the photos...
The motorcycle is for D's birthday, in February. I have training wheels for it which will allow him to ride it before he can ride a regular two-wheeler.
And Lady E gets whatever she wants!
Emma is going to be a brown cow, and Desmond will be a dragon for Halloween. Emma's costume is the one Desmond wore for his first Halloween. Pops gets all of the candy.
