Time for a New Post

The latest installment of Prelude to Revolution starts with photos from our outing to the Flight Festival. An air show, really, at the air base here. We went there right after D's soccer match on Saturday morning. By the time we got to the air show it was lunch time. We opted for some overpriced vendor pizza, and ate in the shade of a giant bomber...a B-1 I think.

You may be able to make out Desmond, Emma and Nana in the crowd. Apologies for the small photo. The links to the photos on this site are screwed up, so it won't enlarge...until I can figure out what's wrong, sorry.

Anyway, the weather for the air show was great. That is until just before the Thunderbirds were supposed to start their show. Some low clouds rolled in just in time to cancel the show...very disappointing.

Desmond got some airplanes at the air show.

Emma got tired at the air show.

Later that same weekend there was the annual fun day at the church. I thinks its supposed to be some kind of fall celebration or something. The have pony rides, the fire department shows up with a fire truck for the kids to look at, there's a dunking tank and there's a pretty sweet pot-luck.

Emma on a pony.

Desmond trying to drown someone.

We've been staying pretty busy. Emma is still in dancing class.

Desmond is still playing soccer.

We've been spending some time out at the motorcycle track. The girls are trying to take over.

Actually, we've been spending more time out at the track. More time in that instead of just going out for a quick ride, we stay out there long enough to grill some food and have a picnic.

This weekend Dawn and Scout took us to the park for the afternoon.

The kids rode their bikes and played on the playground...we overdid it. The kids were pretty tired by the time it was time to leave. Luckily, we had time to recuperate because later that night we went to the drive-in movie theater again...it was a very long day.

We did have enough energy the next day to go to the pumpkin patch. We went to the same place that we've gone for the past three years. We even suggested to the kids that we should go somewhere new and check out something different. But they wanted no part of it...they're crazy.

We got our pumpkins and then it started to rain. We decided to find some shelter, share a funnel cake and wait out the rain.

The rain never really stopped so we decided to just leave...but not before Emma got her face painted. She was a little more excited than she seems in this photo, but it wasn't until she saw herself in a mirror that she got super excited about her butterfly.

Another thing that Emma was super excited about this weekend was her new (to us) bedroom furniture. It was a great craigslist find. She's excited about being a big girl with a big girl bed...she was very excited about picking out the sheets and comforter. You may not be able to see it, but she's eating a caramel apple in the photo. Well, the caramel anyway.
